Anglesey Abbey

We visited this house outside Cambridge the day before Easter. The house was beautiful and the gardens were full of little kids hunting Easter eggs :) These pictures are from in and around the house itself. Two more blog posts will follow: one with garden pictures and the other with photos from the watermill.

The last occupants of this house liked their animal sculptures.

Look it's Dash! Who can tell me where who Dash is and
where we have seen him before?

Okay, these things are kind of awesome. They are radiators
for heating a room but they are designed for drying your
towels as well.

This guys had closet space my sister would envy.
The house was filled with many royal portraits,
particularly from the Tudor line. This one is of
Lady Jane Grey, who was in line for the thrown
after Henry VIII's daughters Mary I and Elizabeth I.
I will finish her stories when I show pictures
from the Tower of London later this summer.
... or you could Google it.
We saw many copies of Ian Fleming's "You only live twice".
The book was published in 1964 and the last resident  of this
house died in 1966. So, either this was his favourite book in
his last couple of years, or some of these books are just in
the house for show.

Seal's Corner: More Adventures of Desk Moose

Orc!
So, Allie is going through the pictures on her computer to find the ones we haven't shared with you yet. She called it a study break; I called it procrastination. Anyway, here are some pictures of my field correspondent Desk Moose that I don't think you have seen yet. Enjoy!

Seals:

So, I didn't know this but there are apparently such things as true seals and eared seals. Eared seals are the ones with really big front flippers.

St. Paul's Cathedral

Here are some pictures of St. Paul's Cathedral . If you are brave enough you can climb the stairs to the whispering gallery in the dome, where it is quite you can supposedly here some one whisper from the opposite side of the dome. There is a replica of this sort of gallery at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago for those who want to check it out.

Queen Anne

I noticed this stone that says Tim back in 2007 and then
again this trip. It is the only stone with writing on it in the
area around the statue of Queen Anne at the front of the
cathedral. Anyone who can tell me why - it would be greatly appreciated.
